I recently purchased an Ameritron
AL-80B 1 kW amplifier. After searching the internet, I realized there
are very few good pictures of the “workings” of these amplifiers.
Since many hams, like myself, love to see what’s “inside the box”, I
decided to take a few pictures, and post them for others to enjoy.
The AL-80B uses a single 3-500ZG
tube, and provides 800W on CW and 1kW Peak on SSB. It’s a
sweetheart, weighing in at about 48 lbs.
